It is with a heart full of gratitude that I write this “thank you” to everyone that joined us at the Hooves & Howls Fall Festival on Saturday.  The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time!

I took a moment at the end of the festival to stop and “soak it all in” and I realized how blessed we are at PurposeFull Paws and Horses with Hearts to have such wonderful volunteers!  People who are willing to take a beautiful Autumn day and give back to those who live life each day with a disability.

Volunteers gave during the preparation- planning & organizing, printing flyers and signs, making food, making crafts & gift baskets, organizing vendors, setting up a doggy photo booth and preparing the tractor and hay wagon for rides- including a ramp so that those with disabilities could also participate.

I saw those same volunteers working during the festival-  setting up, taking money and explaining our services, putting costumes on dogs, taking photos, helping those with disabilities onto the horses for rides, supplying a “goat petting zoo”, helping with games and a pumpkin patch, helping with raffles, driving the tractor while wearing a silly costume and helping with the hayrides!   At the end everyone pitched in to tear down and clean up- that is dedication!

I want to sincerely thank all of the PurposeFull Paws volunteers as well as Kay and her volunteers from Horses with Hearts- we could not have done this without you!

To everyone who came out to support both Horses with Hearts and PurposeFull Paws so that we can continue to provide our much needed services to those with disabilities- thank you for your time and donations!

heartsWe look forward to seeing all of you next year at Hooves & Howls!!

Sincerely- PurposeFull Paws Founder, Amy White

PurposeFull Paws welcomes a new group of volunteers

volunteersDeborah, Caroline, Brittany, Dylan & Bonnie – took our Volunteer Introduction class.  Deborah, Caroline and Brittany also went through our Puppy Raiser Classes and have been helping out during our Saturday training classes.  It is good for our dogs in training to learn to accept instruction from a variety of different people so we are glad to have the extra hands!

We also have some new volunteers that have a special job- giving us Diabetic Alert samples.  Sammantha & Abigail-have been supplying these so we can begin training our Diabetic Alert Dogs -what a valuable job!  We don’t know what we would do with out them!

We know that life can be busy these days so we really appreciate the time that our volunteers give to PurposeFull Paws!

Our list of thank yous would not be complete without recognizing the dedication and hard work of our faithful Board Members and volunteers who have served faithfully over the past year:

Erin, Carolyn, Tracy, Ally, Laurie & Sylvia

Troy, Bobby, Doug, Fred, John& David

Mitch who helped us out on the United Way Day of Caring

Thank you for cleaning up, walking dogs and puppies, getting the yard sale items ready, building walls & hanging lights in the front room, writing grant proposals, organizing budgets, helping the Board make decisions, training dogs, planning fundraisers, grilling Brats & hot dogs, running errands and donating your time and resources.

YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!!  I am so thankful for such a wonderful group of people!   – Sincerely- Amy White- Founder

PurposeFull Paws visits Trick Trucks …..with a “little suprise”!

Puppy “Trick” with owners of Trick Trucks & Cars

pawspaws

We were so excited to introduce the owners of Trick Trucks to our new little Labrador puppy named TRICK!  We wanted to let them know how much PurposeFull Paws appreciates all of their support!   The Eastern Panhandle area is so blessed to have businesses like Trick Trucks that give back to their community!   By supporting PurposeFull Paws, they help those in our area who struggle daily with disabilities.

Many of us could never imagine what it is like to live each day with a disability!  There are so many people right here in the Eastern Panhandle living with disabilities or taking care of a family member who is disabled.   For many of these people, a Service/Assistance Dog can be life changing!  A Service dog can allow them to live more independently and it can give the caretaker peace of mind when they need to leave the house…..the list goes on!  Check out our website for more information about the amazing things that these wonderful dogs can do!  www.purposefullpaws.org

We are excited to honor Trick Trucks and cars in Martinsburg  and look forward to visiting them with little Trick as he is growing and learning how to be a great Assistance Dog!!!  We encourage you to go to Trick Trucks- and cars for your automotive needs- here is what one of our volunteers said about her truck cap that she purchased at Trick Trucks:

All of the people at Truck Trucks are amazing, they take really good care of there customers! I knew just what kind of a camper cap I wanted for my truck and it was installed the day it came in.  Anything I need for my pickup, I will be heading to them! — Tracy Blythe
