What is PurposeFULL Paws?

PurposeFULL Paws is a nonprofit corporation that was created for the purpose of raising and training service/assistance dogs to work with disabled individuals and offer them more independence.

What is a service dog?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines service/assistance dogs as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.

What kinds of tasks does a service dog perform?

Guiding people who have impaired vision or are blind, alerting to a person who is deaf, pull a wheelchair, retrieving items for a person, signaling a person with a medical condition, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack and many more things.

What types of service dogs does PurposeFULL Paws provide?

How long does it take to train a service dog?

This time can vary depending on the dog and its age when it starts the program but typically takes between 6 months-24 months.

How old are the dogs when they are placed in their service homes?

The dogs are typically 12-24 months when they are placed in their service homes.

How much does it cost to raise and train a service dog?

It costs between $20,000-$25,000 to raise and train a service dog.

How much does it cost to receive a service dog from PurposeFULL Paws?

There is a $30 non-refundable application fee and a $500 placement fee at the time that you receive your Service/Assistance Dog.  There are no other costs for the recipient.  We do request that you, your family and friends participate in assisting PurposeFULL Paws raise funds for the support of raising and training our wonderful Service Dogs!!

If it doesn’t cost anything to receive a service dog where does the money for raising and training them come from?

We are raising money for the care and training of these dogs through donations from corporations/ personal donations, dog/client sponsorship programs, grants and many other fundraising events and programs.

    PurposeFULL Paws values your right to privacy so we do not sell or share your personal information with other external parties. Individuals providing us with their mailing address or email address may be contacted periodically with information regarding upcoming fundraisers and events. If you are not interested in being contacted you can send us an email at PurposeFULLpaws@gmail.com and ask to be removed from our email and/or mailing list.Donors who give $500 and up will appear in the PurposeFULL Paws newsletters and the special “Doggone Wonderful Pawtners” section of our website. As a donor, if you would prefer that your name be withheld, please let us know this at the time of your donation and it will appear as “Anonymous” in our Donor acknowledgements.Applicants requesting a service dog from PurposeFULL Paws will need to provide more detailed personal and medical information. This information will only be used and shared for the intended purpose of verifying the applicants need and ability to care for a service dog. No personal information will be shared with other external parties unrelated to this purpose. Applicants will be required to sign forms allowing PurposeFULL Paws to gather and use this information.
